If you’re looking for things to do in Maine with your kids, Freeport, Maine is the place to be! Our little village is home to great big adventures for kids. Although most people think of great Maine shopping outlets when they plan a trip to Freeport, we’re surrounded by miles of coastline and hiking trails, perfect for a family outing.
Take a trip to one of our state parks and explore tidal pools and the Maine rocky coast. Grab a picnic and make it an afternoon expedition. Both Wolfe’s Neck Woods and Winslow Park offer picnic table, grills, and fun places to look for hidden treasures. Winslow Park even boasts a playground with a playhouse built in the shape of a ship!
Or, enroll your child in a summer adventure experience they’ll always remember! L.L.Bean’s new Kids’ Camp gets your kids active and loving the outdoors. Whether your child attends for a day, a week or all summer, they will always remember their thrilling outdoor adventures at L.L.Bean Kids’ Camp. Located on Maine’s beautiful coastline, the Lower Flying Point recreation area is a safe and fun place for campers to explore. Guided by expert instructors and experienced counselors, campers will enjoy “epic” adventures and a wide variety of small-group activities including canoeing, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, archery, fly and spin casting, and slack lining.
At Wolfe’s Neck Farm’s Summer Day Camp, your child will love experiencing a Maine farm first hand and hands on! Your kids will explore, learn and play (and sometimes get a little dirty) on a 626 acre farm with fields, forests and ocean. Campers choose many of their own activities so every camper’s experience is unique and interesting to them. The days are filled with learning in the barn and gardens, singing and acting silly, learning about the natural world, creating skits during theater time, playing games, creating arts and crafts, carrying out science experiments.
All summer long L.L.Bean has their summer in the park series. A vibrant and diverse schedule of events happen on their campus every weekend, farmers markets, free concerts, a kids festival, the dog days of august, and of course their spectacular 4th of July celebration with fireworks and music for everyone!
Looking for something to do with the kids after a full day playing outside? Try a show at the Theater of Awesome! From giant bubbles, magic, and theatrical performances you will be amazed and amused!
