Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village, a National Historic Landmark, is one of Maine’s most important and intact cultural landscapes. The 1,800 acre property is a key heritage tourism destination in southern Maine and it is included in the National Park Service’s Shaker Historic Trails. The Village has 17 historic buildings and structures dating from the 1790s to the 1930s, including the only active Shaker Meeting House. June 22-25, Maine Festival of American Music – Celebrate Shaker music in the context of classical chamber performances, acapella singing, and American folk music traditions with rare commentaries by the Shakers themselves.

July 24, 12 noon-4pm Open Farm Day – Explore one of Maine’s oldest farms with special barn tours, wagon rides, craft demonstrations, homemade BBQ dinners, and more.

August 27, 10am-3pm Maine Native American Summer Market & Demo – More than 40 of Maine’s finest Wabanaki artists, in a rare Southern Maine gathering, present traditional crafts, drumming, dancing, and storytelling.

August 28, Farm to Fork Fondo – Shaker Village will be an aid station at the first annual Farm to Fork Fondo, a cycling tour through Maine’s agricultural countryside from Freeport to Shaker Village and back. FMI and registration (required) at www.farmforkfondo.com

October 8, 10am-3:30pm Harvest Festival – Celebrate the bounty of the season with fresh produce, apples, fresh pressed apple cider, baked goods, special barn tours, wagon rides, craft demonstrations, homemade BBQ dinners, and more.

December 3, 10am-3pm Shaker Christmas Fair – Experience this nostalgic holiday tradition at America’s only active Shaker Community! Specialties include Shaker baked goods, Shaker herbs, and a wide selection of gifts and holiday items.
